Introduction
This session examines the benefits of physical activity and explores ways to increase your physical activity. You will learn how being more active can help you stay healthy, so you can work toward your goals.
This session can help you:
- Learn how active you are now
- Learn how you can be more active
- Develop a plan to increase your activity level
Exploring Activities
- There are creative ways for most people to engage in physical activity
- Some of these activities may be of interest to you
- Exercise, physical activity, or being active does not always mean “working out”
- Keep in mind that being active includes doing things outside of your home, like going shopping, attending a social event, or doing chores
Increasing Activity
- Increased physical activity means spending more time moving your body most days
- First, determine the amount of time you spend each week doing physical activities
- Take a look at your checklist to see where you are starting
Planning
- Planning can help you stay committed and motivated
- Think about how you can make new activities a normal part of your life
- Planning involves learning about and choosing the right activities, settings, and equipment for you, and then working them into your schedule
